Orange Peel contains the zest of the Orange. The origin of the name orange, comes from a Tamil word meaning "fragrant". They have long been associated with fertility because the trees they grow on can simultaneously produce flowers, fruit and foliage. Orange peel is used to flavor food and candy and liqueurs.
Orange zest can be used to enhance other flavors in desserts, gravies, sauces, and even some meat dishes. Use Orange Peel as a garnish to finish off dishes as well.
There is no preparation needed for dried fruit. If used in baking, you may want to rehydrate. To rehydrate dried fruit, pour boiling water over the fruit and let sit covered for 5 to 10 minutes. Drain well before using.
